BOC 104 – Efficient Lighting Fundamentals

BOC 104- Covers lighting fundamentals and types of lighting for economical and energy efficient lighting systems. Participants learn principles of efficient lighting including evaluation of lighting levels, quality and maintenance.

 
 

Other topics include lighting fixture and control technologies, common upgrades, retrofit and redesign options, and management strategies as they apply to space use and function.

The Balboa Park Sustainability Program is sponsoring seven Balboa Park Facilities Directors to attend San Diego Gas & Electrics (SDG&E) Building Operator Certification (BOC)  Level 1 courses. The Sustainability Program previously sponsored facility directors to complete BOC courses.

The BOC Level 1 certification requires facility directors attend eight full day classes from October 2011 to April 2012.  One topic will be taught each month. Topics include HVAC systems and controls, electrical systems, indoor environmental quality, and efficient lighting fundamentals.

Building Operator Certification (BOC) is a nationally-recognized training and certification program for building operators offering improved job skills and more comfortable energy-efficient facilities.  The training is led by highly regarded, experienced professional instructors.  Participants receive a collection of valuable reference materials created and updated by facility experts in energy efficient operations and building systems.  Certification provides a credential for professional development and offers employers a way to identify skilled operators.

BOC Level 1 is intended for those with two or more years of experience in building operations and maintenance, who wish to broaden their knowledge of the total building system.
