Emergency! Disaster Preparedness for Works on Paper

The program will address the importance of the first 24-48 hours in responding to water emergencies that affect works on paper, including the benefits and implications of a variety of responses (keeping objects wet, air drying, freezing, etc.). 

Experts will share real-life examples of water emergencies, responses taken, lessons learned, and tips for next steps beyond the 24-48 hour response period. The program includes viewing of a live webinar from the American Association of Museums, follow-up discussion, and a hands-on demonstration by the Balboa Art Conservation Center. Cost: $12.

  • Use emergency response actions as important and meaningful steps toward subsequent and successful conservation efforts
