The Museum of Photographic Arts is one of the few museums in the United States designed exclusively to collect and present the world's finest examples of photographic art. MoPA’s collection currently includes more than 7,000 photographs that span the history of photography. In 2000 the museum expanded its gallery space and added a classroom, print-viewing room, 20,000-volume library, augmented archival facilities, and 226-seat state-of-the-art theater. The mission of the Museum of Photographic Arts is to inspire, educate and engage the broadest possible audience through the presentation, collection, and preservation of photography, film and video.

The Balboa Park Cultural Partnership serves as the collaborative body and collective voice for 26 arts, science, and cultural institutions in Balboa Park.
