The San Diego Junior Theatre originally began as a program of San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre in 1948. Today, it is the oldest continuing children’s theatre program in the country and has entertained over a million theatergoers. With classes at Balboa Park’s Casa del Prado and in North County at the La Jolla YMCA Firehouse, the Theatre is committed to providing engaging, innovative, high-quality theatre education and productions for children of all cultural heritages, ages, abilities and levels of interest.

Founded in 1945, the San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory gives talented student and pre-professional musicians an opportunity to study and perform classical repertoire at a highly advanced level. The sixth oldest continuously operating youth orchestra in the United States, the SDYS program has grown from one orchestra to three full symphony orchestras and a chamber orchestra at the advanced level, and four large ensembles for students at the intermediate and introductory levels.

The internationally acclaimed, Tony® Award-winning Old Globe is one of the most renowned regional theatres in the country. Its mission is to preserve, strengthen and advance American theatre by providing an environment for the growth and education of theatre professionals, audiences and the community at large. The Old Globe produces an annual season of 15 plays and musicals on 3 stages.

The Balboa Park Cultural Partnership serves as the collaborative body and collective voice for 26 arts, science, and cultural institutions in Balboa Park. Together we achieve greater effectiveness, innovation, and excellence and contribute to the vitality and sustainability of Balboa Park. Our collective 500 trustees, 7,000 volunteers, and 3,500 staff serve more than 6.2 million visitors annually.
